Gastrocopta procera (Gould, 1840)

Length, 2.7 mm; 6 whorls; surface irregularly and indistinctly striate, somewhat shining, but not glossy; color light cinnamon, with apex and lip white-buff; peristome broad, reflexed and thickened within; lower palatal fold deeply recessed, but not hidden behind angulo-parietal lamella.

Aperture with 6 teeth; lower palatal large and deeply recessed, upper-palatal and basal folds small, upper-palatal closer to peristome; columellar and subcolumellar lamellae well developed, though subcolumellar sometimes not visible in frontal view; angular and parietal lamellae narrowly joined, vaguely forming and 'X' shape in frontal view, with inner end of angular curved toward upper-palatal and inner end of parietal curved toward columellar.

Body whorl flattened in region of lower-palatal fold; with low crest behind lip.

Whorl impressed at basal fold.

 


Notes:
Locality: Missouri, Pike Co., 1 mi SE of Frankford, along service road east of hwy 61, glade and old highway cut [39° 29' 13"N, 91° 18' 29"W ].

Samples from this locality had approximately equal numbers of G. procera and G. rogersensis.
